Statistics from the National Stolen Lorry Load Desk, formed in 1990 covering the South East of England, reveal that the number of incidents of theft of Lorries and their loads has increased dramatically since year 2000. The cost of crime exceeds £500m, including investigation expenses together with the loss of customers' business as well as soaring insurance costs. There has also been a significant increase in violence on drivers and warehouse depot employees.
